About Anderson

Anderson Haigler is an award-winning communications professional from Escondido, California. He graduated from the University of San Diego in January of 2020 with a degree in Communication Studies.

At USD, Anderson worked for The USD Vista for three years, serving as the publication's Arts & Culture, Sports, and Associate Editor while writing 16 cover stories. His senior year, he also worked as the Sports Producer for USDtv, producing and anchoring a weekly sports segment.

Across his career at the Vista, Anderson was recognized four times by the California College Media Association and the SPJ San Diego Chapter for both his sports and breaking news coverage. 

Prior to the pandemic, he covered the San Diego Padres as a credentialed reporter for the East Village Times, as well as local high school sports on a freelance basis for The San Diego Union-Tribune. On March 2, 2020, he wrote the paper's lead sports story, and in June of 2021 he resumed his high school sports coverage with a pair of freelance articles for SBLive California recapping the CIF San Diego Section Baseball Championships.

Anderson currently works as an Assistant Director for Strategic Communications with USD Athletics, serving as the primary sports information contact for USD's baseball, women's volleyball, golf, swimming and diving, and rowing programs. He has overseen day-to-day communications efforts for all 17 of the Toreros' Division I programs in his time at USD so far, including men's basketball, football, and both soccer teams, and is the longest-tenured member of San Diego's Strategic Communications department. Since joining the Toreros in 2020 he has overseen publicity efforts for three NCAA postseason teams and back-to-back West Coast Conference Baseball Players of the Year.

In his free time, Anderson enjoys running and playing disc golf with his friends.
